Mercian Travelling Award
This award is sponsored by Mercian Surgical Ltd to enable trainees to gain experience in plastic surgery at a centre outside the United Kingdom. The Award can be used to help fund an overseas fellowship; however, it is a requirement of the award that the successful applicant returns to NPRAS to give a short presentation on their trip and the experience they gained.
Trainees can apply for the Mercian award by submission of a statement explaining their intended destination and the experience they hope to gain.
The award value is £1500. The winner is selected from trainees who present at the the NPRAS meeting.
Please ensure you have sent completed application forms for both the Douglas Murray prize and Mercian award if you wish to be considered for the Mercian travelling award.

Muhammad Javed
Muhammad Javed, a trainee from the Swansea training programme won the 2017 Mercian Travel Award.
Muhammad is shown receiving his award from Douglas Murray FRCS and Paul Duffy (Mercian Surgical Ltd)
He planned to travel to Canada to visit Vancouver General Hospital, to study Breast reconstruction with Dr Peter Lennox.
